The Chrysalis Ring is a dramatic sculptural statement ring inspired by transformation, protection, and emergence. Its elongated form wraps across the finger like a fragmented cocoon, exoskeleton, or ceremonial shell — open, armored, and delicately aggressive.

The ring’s surface combines flowing rib-like structures, open negative spaces, small rounded details, and sharp protrusions, creating a piece that feels both protective and alive. Its polished silver finish catches light across every ridge and cavity, revealing an intricate structure that shifts as the hand moves.

Designed as a wearable artifact, the Chrysalis Ring sits between jewelry, body architecture, and futuristic relic. It is made for those drawn to bold, biomorphic forms that feel as if they are in the process of evolving.

Design Ethos + Process

The Chrysalis Ring explores the idea of jewelry as a transitional object — something caught between states of growth, defense, and emergence. Its form draws from cocoons, insect shells, bone structures, larval casings, thorns, and protective biological armor.

Rather than directly copying nature, the design translates natural systems into a sculptural language: branching ribs, cellular openings, layered surfaces, and defensive spikes. These elements come together to create a ring that feels grown through pressure, adaptation, and transformation.

The piece is developed through a hybrid digital process combining sculptural modeling, computational design, and careful hand refinement. The open framework is shaped to create a balance between visual complexity, structural presence, and wearability. From the digital model, the ring is high-resolution 3D printed, cast in metal, and then finished by hand to preserve the detail of the form while giving the surface a polished, reflective quality.

The result is a piece that carries both the precision of digital fabrication and the character of traditional metal casting — a small relic of speculative biology made for the hand.

Material

Available in precious metal options such as sterling silver and other made-to-order finishes.

Each ring is professionally cast and hand-finished to emphasize the contrast between polished highlights, deep openings, raised details, and darker recessed shadows.

Care

To preserve the finish of your Chrysalis Ring, avoid prolonged contact with water, perfumes, lotions, cleaning products, and harsh chemicals.

When not being worn, store the ring in a dry place, ideally in its box or a soft pouch to prevent scratches. Silver may naturally oxidize over time, especially within recessed openings and textured areas. This can enhance the depth and shadow of the sculptural form, but it can also be gently cleaned with a silver polishing cloth if a brighter finish is preferred.

Because this is a sculptural piece with open structures and pointed details, avoid wearing it during heavy manual work, exercise, or activities where it may catch, bend, or impact hard surfaces.

Fit + Wearability

The Chrysalis Ring is designed as a bold statement piece with an extended sculptural profile. Its open framework gives the ring visual lightness, while its spikes and layered surfaces create a strong architectural presence on the hand.

For the best fit, please select your accurate ring size. Due to the dimensional structure and elongated silhouette, the fit may feel slightly different from a simple smooth band.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Do you offer returns?
A: Since each ring set is custom made, we cannot offer returns. However, we are always open to chat about individual requests. For sizing discrepancies, Orbweaver does not offer resizing services, but most local jewelry shops will offer resizing services if you need the band size updated in the future.

Q: Is the ring suitable for daily wear?
A: Yes. Crafted from solid metals and polished for durability, it’s designed to withstand everyday activities.

Q: Will the silver options tarnish over time?
A: Fine Silver and Sterling Silver may develop a light patina; simply polish with a soft silver cloth to restore their original luster. Any plated options are understandably more delicate and should be cared for to prevent chipping.

Q: How do I determine my ring size?
A: Use a standard U.S. ring-sizing guide or visit your local jeweler for an accurate measurement. Since each ring is custom-made, please confirm your size before ordering.

Q: Can I wear this ring in water?
A: While the metals are water-resistant, we recommend removing the ring before swimming, showering, or washing dishes to preserve its polish.

Q: How long does production and shipping take?
A: Custom-made to order, please allow 3–4 weeks for crafting and quality inspection, plus standard shipping time. We will keep you up-to-date with the progress of your order through email, and once ready, will be shipped straight to you!

Q: What if I need a custom finish or engraving?
A: Simply contact us prior to purchase with your design ideas. We’ll work with you to create a one-of-a-kind piece.
